Here at The UP Lab, we’ve decided to retire our weekly UPlifting Music Series and upgrade into a more nostalgic and sharable medium: mixes. Every month, we will share a new playlist with songs that encompass a certain theme. These mixes can be inspired by submissions, so if there is a particular song or genre that you would like to hear in the next playlist, please check out our UPlifting Music page to share a track or suggestion with us.
Ahh, the 90s. A decade where so many of us were born but barely cognizant of the amazing music surrounding us. Personally, I only discovered a love of 90s hip hop well into the new millennium, right before college. This list doesn’t even scrape the surface of the greatest songs created in arguably one of the greatest decades in music, which is why the ultimate 90s mix will be delivered in parts. For this month’s particular mix, I included a few of my all-time favorites- songs that you can bump in your car with a few good friends during a long road trip. And why not? Spring break is just around the corner.
Mariah Carey ft. ODB – Fantasy (remix)
Notorious BIG – Juicy
Wu-Tang Clan – C.R.E.A.M.
Salt ‘n Pepa – Shoop
TLC – Scrubs
Ghost Town DJs – My Boo
Notorious BIG – Big Poppa
2pac, Roger Troutman & Dr. Dre – California Love
Lauryn Hill – Doo Wop (That Thing)
2pac – Keep Ya Head Up
